Industry Certification & State Credential Exams

Industry certifications make you more employable.

You will be prepared to take an approved state and/or nationally recognized industry certification or licensure exam in your field of study.

College Credit Transfer Opportunity and/or Advanced Credit

Upon completion of the program and meeting eligibility requirements, including the attainment of an aligned industry credential, students may be awarded credits toward an Associate Degree by Broward College or the Florida College System.  Students must enroll in Broward College within 2 years of completing the program at Atlantic Technical College. Additional college credit may be awarded with the attainment of additional industry credentials.

Atlantic Technical CollegeMcFatter Technical CollegeNursing Assistant (Articulated)

Program Length: 165 hours/approx. 1 ½ months – full time

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Examination, with both written and manual skills components. The program contains 90 hours of basic healthcare worker and 75 hours of Nurse Aide Orderly (Articulated) for a total of 165 hours. This is an excellent course for students who have no previous medical experience and who wish to enter the healthcare field.

McFatter Technical CollegePatient Care Assistant

Program Length: 290 hours/approx. 2 months- full time

Patient Care Assistants (PCA’s) receive additional training that expands the traditional role of the nursing assistant. This training includes an increase in laboratory hours, components on home health and caring for patients in hospitals. Under the direct supervision of a nurse, the PCA will come in direct contact with the patient in their home, a hospital or a nursing home. Upon completion of the program, the student may take the State Nursing Assistant Certification Examination.

Program Length: 600 hours/approx. 6 months full time

The Patient Care Technician comes in direct contact with the patient in the performance of his/her assigned duties. Students also receive supplementary training in 12-lead EKG, basic phlebotomy techniques and perform restorative skills. Upon successful completion of Nursing Assistant Skills component, the student will be eligible to take the State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Examination. This is an excellent course for students who have no previous medical experience and who wish to enter the healthcare field.

Program Length: 1350 hours/approx. 12 months (full-time)

The Practical Nursing program prepares a person to participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care in hospitals and extended care facilities. Students are introduced to the clinical area early in the program. Theory and clinical procedures are integrated to reinforce learning. A certificate is issued at the successful completion of the program in accordance with State guidelines. Graduates are entitled to take the NCLEX-PN licensure examination. The Florida State Board of Nursing will issue a license to those who pass the examination.
