BASIC Skills Testing and Exemption Criteria

Per State Board Rule 6A-10.040, students enrolled in postsecondary career certificate or Applied Technology Diploma programs of 450 clock hours or more must pass a basic skills assessment to receive a Career Certificate of Completion upon program completion. Mastery is assessed in two areas; communication (reading and language arts) and computation (mathematics). Minimum standards are program-specific and established by the FLDOE Curriculum Frameworks.
